As a Knology cable customer, no action is required on your part. We have taken the necessary steps to ensure a seamless transition so your service will not be interrupted. What Is The Digital TV Transition? Effective February 17, 2009, over-the-air TV stations will cease broadcasting in analog and switch to all-digital signals. After February 17, 2009, analog TV sets that use an antenna or rabbit ears for over-the-air TV (not connected to cable, satellite, or other pay-TV service) will be unable to display full-power broadcast programming unless the viewer takes action. Why Is It Taking Place? The band of frequencies that analog signals use is filling up quickly with emergency communication channels, wireless device bands, and the like. There simply isn't enough room for everyone who needs it. Since television can easily be transmitted digitally - with better image and sound quality - the FCC has decided to mandate the switch to digital. What Do I Need To Do? Those relying upon an antenna or rabbit ears can respond to the digital transition in one of three ways: • Purchase a digital-to-analog converter box • Purchase a television with a built-in digital tuner • Subscribe to cable television service
The government is offering up to two coupons, worth $40 each, to use towards the purchase of a digital-to-analog converter box. Details of the program can be found at www.DTV2009.gov or by calling 1-888-DTV-2009 (1-888-388-2009).
